Financial Advisors Compensated?
Financial advisors are compensated in two ways: They earn commissions for buying and selling stocks and investment funds, or they earn a fee from the client based on the size of the portfolio they’re managing.
The way that a financial advisor is compensated matters—because incentives matter.
Since Oxford Financial Partners is a fee-only firm, we are never incentivized to make one recommendation over another. And we’re never incentivized to trade stocks just for the sake of earning a commission on the trade.
We’re just not compensated that way.
You can have confidence knowing that Oxford never earns a commission of any kind. We simply make the right financial recommendations for you.
* Minimum annual fee is $5,000/year per household
Note: Estimated "all in" cost of 1.35% / 0.80% inclusive of mutual fund and ETF internal expenses.
Oxford Financial Partners Paid?
We pride ourselves on having a fee schedule that is both open and transparent. Here’s how it works.
When we kick off The Planning Phase, our clients pay an annual Partnering Agreement Fee of $5,0001,2 for portfolio planning and review. This phase includes the creation of, and ongoing updates to, your personalized Financial Wellcheck℠ and Investment Policy Statement.
After successfully completing the Planning Phase of your portfolio, we provide you with an Investment Advisory Agreement for the option to hire Oxford for ongoing management of your portfolio and support of your financial plan. Our fee for these services is based on the dollar value of your portfolio and our fee schedule (above). And, your initial Partnering Agreement Fee will be applied to the annual minimum, which is $5,000.
Here’s a real-life example:
• You have a portfolio worth $500,000
• Because it is under $2M, it is part of our 1.25% annual schedule, or $6,250
• So you would pay $1,562.50 per quarter for the Investment Advisory services
That’s it. No commissions or hidden agendas. No kickbacks. Our only incentive is your success.
And we’ve proven time and again that, with Power of 5 Investing®, our clients’ retirement savings continue to grow, even after withdrawals and fees are taken into account.
1 Partnering Agreement Fee is charged via ACH or credit card in quarterly installments of $1,250 each and is waived once assets under Oxford’s management exceed $400,000.
2 Subject to 12-month minimum commitment.
Notes: All accounts in the same household are aggregated for purposes of determining assets held at Oxford, resulting in lower prices for clients. Oxford’s fees may not be changed without client’s written authorization. In addition to the advisory fees paid to Oxford, clients may incur additional platform costs related to custody, trading, processing and reporting. The underlying investment vehicles recommended by Oxford may also assess their own management fees or other transactions costs. These costs will be disclosed to the client but are the client’s responsibility. Oxford does not control these fees or share in them. Oxford Financial Partners reserves the right to make exceptions to the standard advisory fee schedule noted above. Legacy clients may be paying fees to Oxford under different arrangements than those above.
